Purse Seine
A purse seine is a method of fishing that typically targets large schools of fish. The fishermen will lay out a large net that encircles a school of fish by using a smaller boat, called a skiff. The net maintains its circular shape by having bottom lead lines and floating buoys at the top of the net. To bring in the catch, the purse seine uses a drawstring that is pulled from the bottom lead lines, which singes the net closed at the bottom and prevents the fish from escaping.
